WJM Snap Survey RESULTS

Which is the Best Assessment Instrument?

WJM Associates surveyed organizational development professionals around the world, as well as WJM's Faculty of 100+ leading thought leaders, including executive coaches, psychologists and organizational development consultants.

"We asked them to identify which single Assessment Instrument they find the most useful for the purpose of Executive Development.

We received 323 responses (thank you!!).   The top choices were the following:

Best Assessment Instrument

Under the choice "Other" the most common responses were Birkman and Caliper, although not enough to get either into the top five.  Astrology received one vote(!)

One hundred and twenty eight respondents included comments with their choice.  While space doesn't allow us to report all the comments, here are several concerning the top choices:

Hogan- "Hogan Assessment Systems have greater scientific validation, more customer support, and a more extensive suite of training possibilities than any assessment I have ever used. They routinely partner with consultants and customers to validate their instruments, and continually update knowledge about the implications of test scores."

16PF - "I have worked with 16 PF for over 25 years and still find it the best selection tool on the market."

LVI - "For clear and focused feedback for the executive, the LVI delivers. Plus, 'The Versatile Leader' book provides a great toolkit to make the insight based changes that are generally relevant when working with a senior level leader."

MBTI - "MBTI proves to be useful for communication styles and team effectiveness within our company."

Leadership Architect (Lominger) - "Lominger competencies are detailed and voluminous; however, they allow one to pinpoint the area of deficiency, and they contain reasonable 'remedies' for the development of that competency."

DISC - "Have used DiSC for years and find it very useful, accurate not only for individual assessments but when used properly it applies to department/group dynamics as well."

Strengthsfinders - "It looks to identify abilities and talents and how to leverage those strengths, rather than to identify 'deficits' or 'weaknesses'. It seems that naturally people want to emphasize and take advantage of their strengths, rather than to compensate for their weaknesses."

Thank you to all the participants for your time.  Keep your eye out for the next WJM Snap Survey coming your way soon! "
